Downloading and Installing the WAPIS Add-in for Recorder
Register to get the add-in
The download files are freely available to any user of Recorder. However
in order to be able to support users and assess how many people have
installed the add-in we ask users to register to get access to the
download. To register simply fill in your details on the website registration
form and you will be emailed a password for use when login in to
the site. Your username is the email address you supply and to which
the password is sent.
Once you get the email (it is sent out immediately once you submit
your details) you can return to the site and login.
Once logged in to the WAPIS site navigate to the Recorder Add-in page and read the latest details about the add-in.
- Locate the download page link on the menu under 'My Wapis' proceed to the download page (click here to go there now)
- Select the software option and locate the add-in in the list
of files available.
(click here to go there now) - Click the [download] button for the software option you have chosen
- You will see a message giving you the option to [open], [Save] or [cancel]: Select ‘Save’. Browse to a directory on your hard disk and save the downloaded zip file (make a not of where you saved this file!
- Then select the ‘Help files item’ and repeat the above steps.
Once you have downloaded the add-in files you can logout of the
web site.
Locate the downloaded files (WAPiS V1330.zip & WAPISHelp.zip).
Unzip these files and extract their contents to a location on your
hard disk.
Note the two files have the following contents:
You do not need to know the details of these files, simply ensure they
are All in the same folder on your hard disk – this will be the
source location for the installation process.
You will need a utility (such as Winzip) that enables you to extract the files.
Installing the Add-in within Recorder
This facility is accessed by selecting Tools – Install – Add-In
module from the Recorder main menu.
The list shows modules that are already installed. If a module is selected
in the list, its description (Read-only) will appear in the 'Description'
box.
1. Click [Install]. This will open a standard Windows file location dialog. Locate the Add-in file ‘WAPIS.OCX’ (in the folder you selected after expanding the download files).
2. Choose [Open] to install the selected file and close the file
dialog.
The WAPIS add-in will be installed.
If WAPIS add-in has previously been installed (an earlier version,
for example) - even if it has been removed - you will see the following
message:
An ADDIn of that name already exists, would you like to replace it?
Click [Yes] and installation will proceed normally.
To remove / Uninstall WAPIS
This facility is accessed by selecting Tools – Install – Add-In
module from the Recorder main menu.
The list shows modules that are installed. Highlight
the WAPIS module you wish to remove in the list.
Click [Remove].
You will be asked to confirm that you really want to remove this module.
You must select each of the WAPIS items in turn (Features, Locations
or viewer) for the removal of the WAPIS add-in.
